And I just turned around and I call ass out of there. I was done. I wasn't deal with them. The hypocrisy of the cult is one of the things that turned me away the quickest. When I turned my head lights on, it turned and looked at us. And one of the things I remember the most, where the eyes were going red. I see an orb of light. It is just circling these steps like it is waiting for me. And he begins to tell them that he saw UFO. They're basically like, what are you talking about. That's seven foot up on a tree, peeking around it, and that's where I saw the top of the muzzle, nose and the eyes. As soon as I made eye contact with this thing. I don't like death. I'd like to think this time to welcome my guest tonight, Rachel. Thanks for coming on here and talking to me. Thank you for having me. Would you like to let the audience know a little bit about yourself. Oh my name is Rachel. I live here in Indiana and have since ninety nine. I work here locally. I have a book I wrote and a coloring book I've made, But mostly I just mind my business and you know, go about my life. Until I have crazy things happen and I like to share or write about it. Before we get into all the crazy stuff. You said you wrote a book. What is the book about? So I actually saw you on the Confessionals and I did the same thing that you did. I had an experience and I wrote a book about it. Okay, not voluntarily. Necessarily. I went back to school and got my degree Inlish language in literature, and I had to take one writing class and I was like, well, I guess I'll write fiction, and uh, They're like, write what you know, and I was like, okay, so I got this really good story, so I'm gonna go ahead and start with that. So it is the first The story is a flashback in the first chapter, and then it's just after that everything fiction and it's how they resolve the issue basically. So that's literally what I did. So the first chapter is almost like word for word of what happened with me. And then after that I had to try and make a story up. So I was just I'm not an author or anything, so I figured out. I figured out real quickly that I didn't know what I was doing, but I wrote stuff and then I ran it through all those things and it come back doesn't look like what I actually written. So I was like, it sounds good. It makes it look like I did knew what I was doing. But I was like, I don't even claim it at this point because the AI changed some of the words too much to make it sound the I'm not that smart. Yeah. We Actually, the whole reason I finished the actual book was because I wanted to start a proofreading business and I needed I wanted titles to have, as you know, works that I have proof read before. So I was like, well, I can finish this book. I've got this story going on, so might as well finish it off. And so I just wrote it very quickly. It's actually a very short book, but I wanted a title to be able to have on my proof reading website, so that was the goal. What did you call it? It's called the Shadow Demon, The Shadow Demon pretty much right to the point. Yeah, yeah, I guess the name might be the hook right, not the first line, but the name. That's what I'm hoping. Anyway, Well, where can people find that at? Was it on Amazon? Or is on Amazon? You have to do a fair amount of searching. It's under it's actually under a pen name, because when they said write what you know, I used my name as the character that this happened to, and so rather than change the name of the character, I used the pen name. So it's actually under the name Nicole Case. And but yeah, it's Nicole Case the Shadow Demon. It's mailable on Amazon, and that's it nowhere else. I'll make sure to try and put that in the show notes. If you're ready, you can dive on into. It, Okay. So I always preface this with this is a memory that I have had for so long that I am actually not sure whether it's a dream or whether it's real. But when I think about the facts, they line up they point to it potentially having happened. So when I was six, I spent the summer here in Indiana with my grandma. Me and my sister did and or it might not have been the entire summer, but as a kid, I just said, it's this. We spent the summer with her. It was probably just a couple of weeks or something, but we came up here. We lived in North Carolina at the time, and so we came up here and my grandma was very into her church at that time, like heavily involved in her church, and she like set up a play date. I think with her it was either her pastor like pastor's family, or like an associate pastor, somebody involved in the church. They had girls our age, and so they set up a play day. So we were at the house. I remember the house like it's a It's an old farmhouse surrounded by cornfields. It was blue, and it had a shed that their kids used as a like a playhouse. And as you know, in Indiana the summer, it's still warm, even though it's extremely cold right now in the winter, it gets quite hot in the summer, and for some reason they played in the shed that was probably extremely hot, and it was not set up as a playhouse. It didn't have windows, it had a door, and if you closed the door, it was pitch black. And so we're in there playing, and I know my sister was there. I have a cousin who says that she was there, but I don't necessarily remember her being there. But since we lived in a different states, like she lived here in Indiana, we lived in North Carolina, so we didn't see each other that often. So if she was here, I might not have pinned that to my memory, because I didn't really, you know, understand the concept of cousins as a six year old. And but anyway, it was us and at least the two of us, and I think three other girls, and we're playing in this their playhouse, and I don't know whose idea it was, but for some reason they decided it would be fun to all line up and braid each other's hair. So you're braiding the person's hair in front of you, which I'm pretty sure I didn't know how to braid at that time, and so I'm pretty sure I was in the front of the line. And so and they decide, well, we should shut the door and you know, be in the pitch black and just breik each other's hair in the dark in a line. And so we're in there and you know, everybody's going about their business of braiding hair. And one of the girls, the two girls were siblings, I'm almost positive that were close to my sister's age. And the one of the girls is like, ow, so and so, stop pulling my hair. And she's like, I didn't do anything. Her sister like, I didn't do anything. It's not me, you know, and so we go back to doing braiding each other, and then a few minutes later, she's like, how that really heart stopped? And the girl's like, I'm I swear I didn't do it, you know, because you always blame your siblings because they're always messing with you. And she's like, I'm I'm up here and you know, getting my hair braided, and the person who was bringing their hair was like, yeah, I'm braiding her hair, and so like she couldn't be doing it, and so we realized that there must be somebody else in there, and so like just pandemodium, you know, we're all screaming, and we burst out of the doors and we're running to the house. And I was at the back of the pack and I turned around to look behind me, and I see this completely black, solidly black, like absence of all light black figure with the exception of the eyes, which were red and they were glowing. And it's like you could he had, of course a hat, but it was I've heard it called a businessman stetson. It's not like a full cowboy hat, but it's not it's too small to be a fedora or the door is too small to be what I saw and he was chasing us, and when I when I turned to look back, he stopped. It was like he hit a wall and he just completely backed off and just stood there. But I continued running. And I remember. That's why I remember the house so much, is because there was They had one of those old aluminum screen doors, and I remember like the blue siding and the like the stoop, the concrete stoop that was maybe two steps that we ran up and ran inside it. I don't remember telling any adults about anything, but I do remember us being freaked out and just staying in the house after that. Like I remember kind of aspects of the house and how it was decorated, and. Yeah, that was. That was probably one of the scariest things I think I ever saw. And even even now, the lawn decorations that people have where it is a cutout and then like of a human and then you paint it black, I don't. I hate those things so much. Like I do not look at those things at all. Every time we drive by. If I know one's coming, I'm like, I'm not looking over there. That's not cannot look out the passenger side window. So there was a house somewhere I forget exactly which one it was. And a few years ago they used to have it was like the cowboy leaning against the tree cut out. It was all black, had the hat and everything. So, yeah, there's one on a highway around here, and I know it's theirs. I'm like, okay, I'm not looking over there on that house is invisible. I have it out bag. It's up against my pole barn now, but I used to have it out front. There's a nine foot tall cut out of a sasquatch made out of metal. But that'd be fine right where my barn is at now where I record in. It used to be right beside that area, but the actual leg parts were that goes into the ground. The welts popped off so it wouldn't stand up on its own, so I bolted it to my pulebarn out back. Yeah, but everyone that would drive by got a big glimpse of the nine foot basically like, what's buying me right now? But just to cut out of a nine foot tall one? Yeah? But yeah. I I asked my sister, I'm like, do you remember this? She's like, not so much, but she she's like my mom in that they don't remember a lot from either one of them remember much from their childhood. And I asked my cousin and she said she does remember it, and I'm like, okay, but I don't actually remember you being there, so I'm just really not sure. But the funny, like, the funny thing is I live in this area now, so I could drive past this house on a fairly regular basis and have no idea that that was probably one of the most traumatic childhoods I say, one of I had a I had a daredevil childhood, Like one of my first memories is almost drowning. So I got bit by a dog when I was six as well. So I mean, I had some traumatic things happen when I was young. So but it was one of the I mean, just one of the things that has stuck with me for a very long time. Now, you had similar experiences to me. I was actually just thinking about this earlier. And I'm not on the name off all of my childhood happenings. We'll say that for someone else's show, But uh, I didn't get bit by a dog, and the same cousin that cause the dog to get to bite me, we're also the same cousin that me in a pool and hold me underwater. Oh okay, yeah, so I can relate to both being traumatic because I don't even like even today, like if I get into like public pools, I don't like when there's a bunch of people around master to get anxiety from it, because I just remember being held down underwater and freaking out. Yeah, se, yeah, I. Was. I was told not to play on the deck of the pool, and of course I did. I was four, and I tripped on a board that was like a loose board on the deck and fell into the pool. And this was October, and you know, it's North Carolina though, so it's not cold cold. I was wearing sweats, but no, like it wasn't jacket weather, I guess. But yeah, I remember my sister and one of her friends were We're all three up there playing and I'm the one who fell in. And then my sister's friend was like quick thinking, and I mean she had to have been six at the time, because I was four. She grabbed the like one of the pool tools that you like skim her or whatever. They had a pole, and she held the pole out to me, and I grabbed the pole and they fished me out. But and I had distinct memories of like bobbing up from the bottom because I couldn't it was over my head. I would sink at the bottom and then push it back up to the top, you know. So, yeah, that's that's a fun story as well. Yeah, childhood experiences they stick with you. Yeah. So this thing that resembled a hat man, you said it in your email, it had like red eyes. Mm hmm. Now the red eyepart, I don't know. I don't think I've heard too many stories of hat men where the people actually seeing the eyes. Usually you just see the silhouette of the thing. So the red the red eye part really stuck out to me. Well, the thing is a lot of times, I know, people say they associate that with sleep paralysis, which I don't think I've ever had in my life. But I don't go into deep sleep enough. I'm a light sleeper. So but also, I mean, this was the middle of the day and it was a bright, sunny day. I mean I remember white fluffy clouds in the sky, not an overcast, just blue skies, white fluffy clouds, and then this like it looked like a damon to me. So you know the green the red eyes either was the. Right the the hat that you're talking about. I always told it to me. It's like the old nineteen thirties, nineteen forties, like gangster business manhat. That's what I always think of when yeah, it's the same hat that people report seeing, like with the UFO stuff when they claim men in black would show up. Yeah, yeah, I would say that. It's the same type of a hat like that, the thing that I remember, and I thought I was dreaming too. I always said it was a cowboy hat because that's the type of hat that I remembered. But my dad wore cowboy hats and cowboy boots and stuff like that, so I knew the difference, you know. I knew it wasn't like hits. With me. And this is why I chalked it up to a dream for so long as there was a movie that I had just watched and it was called Bubba Hotep and I think I've mentioned this on another episode, but that movie was about a mummy that came back and it was sucking the souls of people, and if I remember, writing, had a cowboy hat on. So I always just said is because I watched that movie recently and I was just dreaming about that, and that's how I wrote it all off. But it wasn't up until a few years ago and I heard about a hat Man. I was like, what is hat Man? And I listened to an episode of A and they talked about I'm like, that sounds creepfully very similar to what I've. Experienced, right, I didn't know it was I guess five or six years ago maybe that I learned that hat Man was a thing. I was like, I'm sorry, what now, what is this called? And they're like, A hat Man? I was like, wait, so that's what it was. Honestly, I haven't go very deep into it. I've listened to people talk about their experiences with hat Man, but I've never like it's my goal. There's a book written. I think it's called The hat Man by somebody. I think her name might be Heidi something or other, and it's on my list of things to read, but I haven't done yet, so. I know what the book is. Someone actually told me that I should look into getting it, and I never have because I'm not an avid reader. I've got I've got books beside me that are from guests, so I've gotten like free copies of their books and things, and I'm supposed to be reading them. I was like, I'll get to that, and then I get another book and I'm like, I want to get to that one. I work all day, I do stuff with family, and then I come out here, so I don't have the free time to actually read. Exactly, Like, guys, I need you to send me the audio book. That is actually something that I've actually tried to do is listen to books. But a lot of the things that I would want to listen to, I feel like I still don't have the time. I might when I have to start driving back for a couple hours for working purposes, and maybe I'll start doing that. But I haven't even been listening to podcasts in the last almost two years because I don't travel that far for work purposes anymore. Like the farthest I go is like twenty five minutes away for the last year and a half. Yeah, so I don't have a whole lot of time to leave catching up on everybody's. Episodes, right, Yeah, makes it difficult. You said you had some other experiences that you want to talk about some of them. So some of my I have. I don't dream often. When I do, it's usually really random, weird dreams, but I have reoccurring themes in dreams sometimes. And one time, or not one time, but a few times, I had a dream about this place, this this house. It was in my dream. I went with a babysitter. She took me and my sister to on military basis. They have base of housing, which my dad's in the army, and we never lived on base housing, but you know, we were really close to the base, and so it's just like this apartment complex of townhouses basically, and we went there with my babysitter, and I swear to god, this was a dream, and because it was weird, because the house was almost completely empty, and I remember in my dream I went up upstairs and went to like you went upstairs and you turned to the left, and there was a bedroom at the end of that hall. And I went to this bedroom and it was the end of the row of the apartments and the room was completely empty, and I remember looking out the window and it was just very eerie. And then this was this was a dream. I'm fairly certain I was four, maybe five when I had it. But the reason it sticks out, the reason I even remember it at all, is because I had when I was I think it was I was seven or eight. I had these these friends that lived down the road and a brother and sister, and we started hanging out all the time, playing, riding bikes things like that. And they moved from their house down the road from us, which was like a normal neighborhood, not base housing. Well, they moved into base housing. The apartment in the Base Housing that they moved into was the one that I dreamt about. And the room that I went to that was creepy was my friend Heather. It was her room, and I remember when we were there, they said, oh, this this house, this this uh, this room is haunted because there was a boy, a teenager who lived here, committed suicide by hanging himself on the tree right outside this window. And they said sometimes there were there was woods behind the that like the Base housing there was woods. There was like a wooded area, and then there was a play kind of behind it. So I mean, I think the distance was maybe a mile or so between the back of their house and this playground area, So I mean, not a small amount of traversing there, but they said that sometimes you can see his ghost running through those woods because he glows green, and we actually did see that one time, but I mean, it was a military base. It could have been somebody running with a can stick through there. But I just think it's one of the things that's really weird about is that I dreamt about that place being creepy before I went there, before before I was even friends with these people, and certainly before they moved to that area. And there was one aspect of like there's one area of the woods where you would all the kids would go and play, and they called it rather than the playground, they called it Clay Mountains. It was an area where it had been and like there was a a difference in the elevation and there were trees on the upper elevation and it was in red clay and like water had just washed away kind of a concave area, and so they just called it Clay Mountain because it was all just red dirt. And we played over there, and I dreamt about that place specifically as well, and I'm like, when we went there with my babysitter, in my dream, it was nighttime and so I wouldn't have gone to I wouldn't have gone to that place at all because it was just like an evening. I don't remember staying there necessarily in my dream, so I wouldn't have gone to that place. But I remember being in that place, that specific area in my dream too, So I just thought it was really strange that they, I mean, people come up with the whole you know, oh this is haunted. Oh that's haunted to scare you a lot, but I was more inclined to believe it after having been there before in a dream. Do you think like being there in the dream, and I'm not trying to go all weird like psychic ability or anything like that, but do you think it's almost like a premonition of things, like you were able to see things before? Yes, I guess, But like for that one, it's kind of pointless, like I don't understand the purpose because I'm not friends with them anymore. They moved away again, like maybe a year after they had moved into that apartment, and we lost contact for the most part. I can actually I don't remember where they moved to, but I feel like it was out west maybe, But I have had, like I my nephew is after he was born. I had a dream about him and he was having like like it was me and my mom and my sister and my nephew, and he was having like spots breaking out around his mouth and I was like, guys, he's having an allergic react to something. And they're like what, I don't what are you talking about. I'm like, no, he's having an allergic reaction to something. And then like six months later we find out he's definitely allergic to peanuts. So I'm like, oh, that was kind of weird. Do you ever get deja vu? Yes? Yes, I do. Does it happen often. And not super often? And to be perfectly honest, sometime, like I've worked in the same job for fifteen years, so it's kind of like when you're having deja vu a job that you've worked at for fifteen years, is it really deja vu? Did you just literally do this already? Right? And then like this this is a new house. I've lived here for about a year now, but my last house I lived in for twelve years, you know, kind of the same house. You know, you go do the same thing in the house repeatedly, and you're like, well, I've been here for twelve years. What are the odds I haven't done this before? And that's why I think it's deja vou. But yeah, I do get it sometimes and I'm just like, noah, no, this seems more dejavou than normal. I get it often, and it's never anything of any relevancy. It's just it's very strange. Like someone will say something and I'm just like, oh, I've already seen this before, yeah, and like there's no reason for it that I'm aware of. But when you talk to other people say things like this or look into stuff like this, they claim that maybe it's because like our reality. And again, this isn't going on the whole out there theme, but we're making we're remembering that specific part because we something afterwards, and we didn't do it correctly the first time, so now we're doing it again. I was like, well, that's almost very simulated sounding, so right, it's. Like you didn't you didn't perform your functions correctly last time. I should try that again right this time. So I don't know how much true to that there is, right, But I don't know. It's it is interesting because I've noticed that some people have not so much, like I said, premonitions or whatever. But if you find out people have been able to see things, they dream these things and you ask them about deja vu, oh yeah, they experienced how too. So I don't know how it all correlates together. But and like I had, I remember one of the houses that we lived in North Carolina at I remember having a dream and it was a very weird dream. I walked I was in the master like walked in the master bedroom, and it looked like our house, but there was this woman there and she was ghostly and you know, glowing and wearing a white nightgown, and she kept pointing to this white spot on the floor and it was like a white like stain on the floor, basically like just like a puddle, big puddle. And I was like, well, that's really really strange. And then sometime after that dream, I had heard that someone might have been murdered, but I think they said it was in the house next to that one, so not that house. And I'm like, hmm, I wonder if I dreamt about that or because I didn't know about it beforehand, it was sometime afterwards. But this is something and I don't know if I've talked about it prior. But when something happens traumatic in an area and people are like, oh, the house is haunted because it happened in the house. What contains the energy to that house? And someone says, oh, the proper pretty hanted. Well, how do these things know? Property lines? Like this is all just made up stuff that we humans have said this, this is where my property ends. What makes them abide by those non universal like rules just because party line, our made up lines say they can't cross through here. I just stepped two feet across my property. You have to stay over there, mister ghost. Exactly. No. Sorry, these property lines here, they're like they're going to block you. Sorry. That's why I've always thought it was strange when people say, oh, my house is haunted, Well, your neighbor's like five feet away. Why aren't they having experiences over their laws of different houses, Like, yeah, I get that, but what contains it to this house? Like why is everything contained to a house? I suppose it has something to do with them being attached to that house, not necessarily and not the neighbor's house. Like if it was their house, m m they you know, they would feel more comfortable there, I guess maybe, or if you go on the theory that you know, ghosts are just like the energy that like they're just doing the same thing that they always did in their lifetime, Like they're going to if they went to get the mail at three fifteen every day when they're alive, they're going to go to get the mail three fifteen every day when they're dead. Almost like a residual haunting type of the thing. Yeah, that's what I was looking for. But then they wouldn't go to they wouldn't wander over at the neighbor's house unless they did that a lot in real life. I guess. I just always find it interesting that when you hear people having these experiences or whatever, and we'll dive into my own crap, like we have weird stuff here and there's really no reason as to why there should be. M Yeah, I've been told by random people here in the last couple of months because I was in an event and I was talking and they had to be being a speaker, and someone come up right afterwards and was telling me that, So like, again, I'll dive it into it, but basically it's my land. And then some miles later in the day, I was like, do you have trees around your places? Like I live in rural Indiana? What do you expect? Like that's kind of like to me, it's almost like they're fishing for stuff, and by whatever you answer, I'm very skeptical psychic people or whatever. I always feel like they're trying to not so much like con people, but at the same time, it's almost that way. I feel like, so when they're asking questions and you get certain answers, they go into the next thing, and like you're setting them up by giving them information. So I'm not very open about a lot of stuff. And yes, yeah, but. The things that they were asking were like, is there any water nearby? Well? Again, which direction you go? You're going to run in the water at some point? Yeah, it's all vague stuff, right, I feel. I'm pretty far from any water, like halfway, like the Miss Cinema runs through here, but it's a good little while away from here. And then we have the White River as well, and again it's pretty far away from me, I mean miles. You know you're not going to walk there, right. Luckily for me, I am it's mac dab in the middle between the ill in the Wabash and just a few miles from where the miss Sinewa runs into the Wabash. So I have all this great little combobulation of river systems a run right around where I live, so I get all the weird stuff. Yeah, I see, my mom used to live on the Missis Cinema as well. I mean there was a cornfield in between her house, but actually it wrapped around, so there was a corn field in one direction and then on the other side there was a house, a road house, and then the river. But I can't I mean, I don't remember anything really weird happening there, but I didn't want. Now that I think about sharing the story of the Shadow, the hat man or whatever, I think about how my mom's house it has the shed set up like that house, and I was like, what if it's that house? But I was like, no, the back door is not placed right, and the front stoop isn't or mean the back stoop there is no unless they revamped the laundry room, it's not it. And I seem to remember that house being two stories as well, so I'm like, well, that's not it. Then now in your email, you said that they were it was your sister too, wasn't it. And then there's a couple other little girls and they didn't ever mention anything about it. Not that I'm aware of. And it's like, if I met these other girls on the street today, like there's good possiblity I actually do know them, because if they stayed in town, then you know, my job is actually very front facing, like I know a lot of people in town, so I come across a lot of people, like people I went to high school with, and but if I saw them, I would never know it was them because I don't even know I remember their names, No remember how many girls there were, and I don't remember their names at all. So but yeah, I've asked my sister, and my sister was like, I don't I mean, maybe that happened, And I'm like, well, I really like you remember that. I think she remembers playing. I don't think she remembers, like maybe she didn't look backwards, you know, maybe nobody else looked backwards besides me. But I mean if they didn't, then it would just be like this, you know, weird thing that happened in a shed one day, and then that's all that there was why you know. I understand like you weren't familiar with like hat man or whatever back then, but you called it a demon obviously just because of the red eyes or why did you think it was a demon? Okay? Pretty much? Honestly, I never called it anything until I wrote the book. I had to come up with a name, and I was like, Oh, that works. That that's good. Because it looked like a shadow and had glowing red eyes. I'm like, oh, it's obviously a demon. You know. Weird that I mentioned that D word and then my screen over here just decides to shut off by itself. I'm going to kick back on so anyone watching the video, you noticed that my screen went off right when I talked about demon, So goes along with some of the other things around here. We'll just leave it to that. The other night, completely off topic. But I have a setup to where I record over here and it's my road cast or whatever, and I had forgot to stop recording, so it recorded for thirteen hours straight until I came back out here the next day and it was still recorder. I was like, oh, I turn it off. So I had stopped. Now I have thirteen hours of recording to go back and listen to see if I picked up any weird noises. Yeah, there's any random EVPs or anything out here from all the weird stuff, because the whole point of me coming out here was a tray and get all the weird stuff to be away from the house, away from the house and be contained out here. Because it's weird that when people do things like what I do another podcasts or whatever, if you talk to them, sometimes they say that they get more activity ever since they started doing stuff like this, and a lot of people think it's because you're opening doorways. By talking about you're giving that the energy, you're giving it the attention, so somehow you're inviting it. Hi. I was like, well, I've never invited anything in and I've always said nothing's allowed in here. But since i've been out here doing this, I have cameras out here, and I have caught weird things happening in here on my camera. Huh. So now I need to go back and listen to like twelve hours worth of silence just to see if there's something on there. Kayo, maybe an owl? What kyo kyote do is a weird thing. Because I was out here a couple of weeks ago, and shit, you not, I heard I hear something ground. I have my headphones on, so I'm hearing what I'm listening to. But I heard something very close and I heard growling, and I'm like, so I hit pause and I'm hearing it again. I was like, what is it? I was like when I start hearing the yapping and all, I was like, Oh, I bet they're back screwed around my ghosts or chicken. So I go outside and it seems like a step out that stops. But I hit record on my camera on my phone. As I go out there, you hear me hit my table and big thud from Max trying to get around it to hurry up and get out. But then the noises of the coyo is just completely silence. I was like, well, that's strange, Like they instantly just stopped as soon as I opened the door. But yeah, the growling part was very very close. It was enough to where I heard it over the headphones. And I actually went back and listened to the audio again to make sure it wasn't something on that and it was not on my audio. M So again more weird stuff. Yeah, it seems to yeah, seems to follow me. Maybe, I don't know. Yeah. For me, I kind of wondered whether talking about this would like kick up anything. But I've told the story a couple times now. And so far, so good. So I'm just gonna not go blood here and make sure you know loops like, get a good night's sleep tonight. You said you're a very you're not a deep sleeper. No I'm not either, But and you said you never had sleep paralysis, which I get that every once in a while very maybe like a couple of times a year. And to me, it's just I'm not awake. I don't ever think of it as sleep paralys is like to me, I'm still in that dream state. I'm half awake, half asleep. So I'm looking around and I'm still asleep, but my body is not fully awake. I don't correlate it to every time that that happens, that there's a demon beating on me or whatever, like some people do, right. I have heard was someone recently that when you're in REM sleep, your brain sends out signal to like basically paralyze you, because you know, when you're INMS sleep is when you're dreaming and you're doing all those so that you don't do all those weird things that you're doing in your dreams. They that's why your brain paralyzes you. And so that's the explanation of why, because you're still in rem sleep when you wake up, and that's why you're paralyzed because your brain is still in rem sleep. That's the explanation I heard. They have all sorts of explanations for everything, but I'm not going to say that they're wrong. But yeah, I have one of the reoccurring dream themes that I do have. It's a very straight It's I am dreaming that I am in my bed in the I've had this happen in three separate houses, and it's always in that specific house. And I dream that a spider falls from the ceiling onto my face or my head, and so I actually jump out of bed, and I guess I'm awake, but I haven't opened my eyes yet. I opened my eyes standing up beside my bed, like looking back, like looking for the spider, like where is the spider? Oh my god, I cannot have a spider in my bed. You know, I've had it happen like at least four or five times, and I'm lucky that I'm always in the correct house, because if I'm not in the correct house, I could, you know, try and throw myself off the bed in the wrong direction and land in a wall or you know, a dresser or something like that. But yeah, I literally wake up standing next to my bed looking for that spider, and then it takes me a really long time fall back asleep because my heart is. Counting that energy from thinking the spiders on you. I've had something like that happen not too long ago. But I felt something on my face and I didn't jump out of bed. I just instantly grab whatever it was through it and then I realized, like I probably should have seen what it was that I threw. Yeah, yeah, but I never got up and looked for because I didn't want to know at that point. I just wanted to stay in bed. Yeah. So, my biggest struggle is between my wife and I. Were usually have a child in between the beds, so we either have my son or my daughter or both. Because she'll be six, she'll still come into our bedroom says she has bad dreams and then wants to come go to bed, and then the three year old we had to move his bed into our room, even though for the most part he's always been in his own room. We never had a price here. Recently, he wants to be in our room all the time watching our TV, so we just kind of moved his bed in here, even though he has his own TV. We converted his bedroom into my wife's workspace. So, yeah, his bed's now in our room. And then he'll sleep in his bed, but then in the middle of the night he'll want to get up between us. So I need a bigger bed. I don't think that. Yeah, we have a queen and we've been talking about getting in Kingsiz's bed. I was like, well, we got anything bigger than that, because we need one for like four people. Yes, yeah, yep. Is there anything else that you've had happened to you that you'd like to talk about? You know a couple actually, the more recent ones that is interesting. I actually just remember this story today because I was listening to somebody else talk about an experience and my grandma died, the same grandma that I was staying with. She died. I think I was about almost twenty or twenty one, and I remember, so I sleep at the TV on and I have since I was maybe eight or so. I actually would go and sleep in our spare bedroom because that's where the TV was, and I would just sleep on the floor because I have trouble shutting my brain off, and I would put the show on the TV. In the TV it helps my brain to disengage and sleep. And so because I sleep with the TV on, you know, it's always wake up and it's light in my room. And then the night that my grandma, she had died of that morning, but that next like that night when I went to bed, I woke up in the movement night and looked at my TV and like in between the TV there was a black like kind of like a cloud, you know, like not really a figure necessarily, but just the black something or other, and it blocked the light from the TV. And I actually remember my mom saying that she had the same thing happened when my great grandfather died. I didn't have it happened, but it happened to her the day of the night that he died. And so it never really like I never made a big deal out of it because I was like, oh, well, that's that's the same thing that happened to her. So that's that just that must be what it is when you die, you go check out your grandchildren while they're sleeping for something. I don't know. It was kind of like a black mass or like a black shadow or yeah, like not. Even a shadow, just more like a mass. I haven't I interviewed someone recently as actually by the time the stars of that episode will alread to be out. But I met him when I was down in Tennessee recording with Tony. He was someone that is friends with Tony. He actually came into the studio, but he talked about a black mass that was like right over his face, kind of like hover and around there. Uh huh. And I've heard other people talk about these black matts like they don't have definitive shapes, but they're like a black presence. And to be honest, anytime I've heard about them, they're more like I'm gonna type things. They're more nefarious. I would say, Well. I just I went back to sleep, like I woke up, I saw it, and I was like, oh, oh, that's weird, Okay, I went back to sleep. Now didn't even like, you know, because sometimes you have a nightmare and it's like, yeah, I didn't want to stay awake for a little while now because I don't want to go back into that dream, thank you no, But uh yeah I was. That was just like no, it's that's just my grandma. That's fine. I'm just gonna go back to sleep now. That is the one thing. I don't get a whole lot of nightmares, which I'm kind of grateful for that. I just get really screwed up dreams. Yeah, they're just really I have really weird, weird, random like odd things. But since I don't I don't have I have what I call anxiety dreams, where there are things that give me anxiety but not if there's anybody else that they would never consider it a nightmare. But like I don't. I don't like heights, and so all have dreams where, in order to leave like some sort of shopping center, the stairs have like this huge gap in them, like a six foot gap, and people in my dream are just jumping that gap like it's just a normal thing, and I'm like trying to prepare myself to jump over this gap, and it's just it's what I just call them anxiety dreams. But since I've lived in this house. I've I've had two nightmares, like I would call them nightmares, and I'm like, this is weird. I don't I don't like that because I don't have nightmares. I mean, these are these are ones where I'm like, yeah, I don't want to I'm gonna stay awake for a little bit and go ahead and just maybe play a game on my phone or something real quick to reset my mind. But yeah, oh, I like when I wake up and I feel like I'm levitating and I jerk real bad and I fall back into the bed. I like, was I actually levitating or was I just because it usually dreams like when you're falling and all of a sudden, I land and hit the bed like I'm right before I hit the ground. I always like hit my bed. Yeah yeah, well I'd rather hit the bed than the ground. So some I've talked to some people before and this is there's there's episodes that have been out, so people are kind of like roll their eyes up. We talked about this on previous stuff. But like I've always wondered, like if you die in your dream, m hm, do you die in real life? I know a lot of people say you don't. And I've had dreams that are screwed up that I've been at my own funeral before. Mm hmm, yeah, technically you didn't die though. I didn't die in the dream, but I was dead in the dreaming. Yeah. I it's funny. Sometimes I will have like the very very rarely, I will have an extremely vivid, realistic dream like I'm actually writing a second book, even though I say all the time I'm not a writer, I don't want to be a writer, but I'm writing a second book about this dream. Because in this dream, I was like, it was like it was like a movie. It was like watching a movie. I was seeing this scene from above and I'm in the middle of this scene where it's like kind of like a Poltergeist scene where there's these two girls that are college girls and their stuff flying off of shelves and stuff like that, and I'm like, wow, that is an incredibly odd dreaming. I don't know if other people have dreams where they aren't like I wasn't a character in the dream. I was just watching the dream happen. And so I'm like, well, that's that's a new book for me. Then. So I've been writing that for like three years now, ollen off. So do you ever see yourself in your dreams? I don't think so. I have a couple of times that I can remember, Like usually when people dream, you dream in the first person, like how we are right now, like looking right. I remember in some dreams that I've seen myself doing stuff, like so I'm watching my own self do thing. It just is strange, Yeah, it would be. I don't think I've ever done that. I think I've been like invisible in my dreams where I will watch other people doing things and it's it's like I'm not there again, kind of like it like in the last one, only it's I'm not like watching from above, but I'm just a spectator watching things happen. It makes me wonder if we don't leave, like when we fall asleep and we start dreaming, it's like, are we experiencing what happens elsewhere? Like I say, there is multiple universe or multiple decisions, Like I said, if it is a whole simulated type of thing like that, I just astral travel the astral plane and go into a different realm to where I'm watching myself mow the lawn. Like oh, it's like that I'm not in that reality right now. Actually, I enjoy mowing, so I wouldn't be my I was actually thinking about that earlier. I can't wait till the worms backup so I can mow. That's I really am a middle aged dad at this point, because that's why Highlight is mowing my art. Yeah, I'm just ready for it to not be covered in snow. I don't like living in an area where I walk outside and my face is burning from being cold. No one understands that reference, but like when you walk outside and it feels like your face is on fire because it's so bitterly cold, Yeah, that's how it feels here sometimes when you walk outside in that wind itch. Or like when it hurts your nose to breathe in. Yeah, that's no fun. My wife says she wants to live somewhere where it doesn't hurt her face when she walks outside. I was like, yeah, I understand your reference, because that's it is that way, and it sucks. Sometimes I have to work outside. A lot, so yeah, yeah. I saw some drive into the store today and I saw people working outside. I was like, oh man, today's a terrible day for that. So about ten. I think it was eleven years ago. Now. We had a horrific snowstorm that came with an Arctic blast and it was negative forty five or negative fifty degrees. Yeah, I remember that. You could throw water in the air to instantly turn to ice. I was out working in that. I worked for the Highway Department at the time, so we had to plow the roads and after that was all done, they wanted us to go out and fix potholes. So it was negative twenty five degrees, like, the actual temperature was negative twenty five plus the wind chill, and we're out there trying to put asphalt in these holes. Yeah, this is the worst day of my life. Literally, I felt like it is so freaking cold. Yeah, yeah, that's that's pretty outrageous. Actually. Yeah. I had a coworker. He came over and shoveled my driveway so I could go to work. And then the pipes were frozen and work, so I couldn't go to work anyway. So you're like, well, I guess we're all gonna be open. I was like, okay, great, I'm so glad Shay came and shoveled my driveway and negative forty degrees for me not to go anywhere. I've been kind of bitter about the whole situation because I no longer work there. So ever since I left because I hated having to be on call during the winter, I still do the same normal job that I used to do for the Highway Department. I oversee construction stuff. But this what I do now. I work for a private company and we don't have anything to do with that aspect to it, so I don't have to be out plowing roads. But ever since I've left the state five years ago, it's like we haven't really had into the snow like we used to. I felt like I was always working. It's like now that I've been gone, it's like, doesn't seem like we get like the snowstorms that we were getting. So yeah, yeah, I mean it's been a very very light for snow in the last like seven years or so. Yeah, it's not been everything. I kept seeing claims this was going to be like one of the worst winters in the last decade. I was like, well, we'll see, and so far it hasn't really done much of anything. Right. Somebody told me that it was supposed to be really mild winter, and I was like, all right, well whatever, I'm just gonna do what I always do, so see, I. Don't worry about it. I guess I was, Let bring it on. I've got my heaters, I've got everything else I need, so we stock up on food. So if it comes into a big snowstorm, cool, I'm gonna be warm and toasty and not worry. About it exactly. Yep. Well, we've been going on for about an hour. Is there anything else you'd like to discuss where we can wrap the swamp. I do have one last story that happened. This is the most recent story that's happened to me, and it's still somewhat puzzling. Like I had gone through my closets at my house and I painted all of them white because they were all like painted ugly colors, and I was just like, you know what, they just they could be white. And then I'll put everything back in there and I'll organize everything. And I have this you call it a boombox. It's not really like what you think I want to do when you say boombox. It's just a portable CD player, cassette player, AMFM radio and it has this you know, the toggle switch on it you to switch back and forth between these all of the you know, modes or whatever. And it takes six C batteries. And I had organized my closets and put everything back in there, and that was one of the things that got put back in there. I actually didn't know there were batteries in there, that's how long they were in there. And I was at home, like I think I did that, like on a Sunday maybe, and I'm pretty sure it was Tuesday evening around like seven o'clock or something like that. I start hearing this like noise, and I'm very like, why, why am what am I hearing? What is this right now? And it sounded like the radio, And so I'm going back and I'm trying to I'm like I was in the living room. I could hear it in the back of the house. So I'm walking back there to try and figure out what in the world I'm hearing. And I get back there and it's this boom box that was on and it had like the switch had been pushed to I guess I think it was the radio because there were no CDs in there, so and certainly not a cassette in there, and so it's I pull it out and I'm like, what and why is this? How is this even on? There are not any batteries in here, and I opened up and there were batteries, but some I'm like, I don't understand how that happened. How did I know? I messed with it the past weekend, and then three days later it starts playing on like radio station, which I I don't even know what radio station it was on. It happened to be one that came through without the antenna, which you know, there's not many of those that do that here because you'd have to. We have one local station that's a really kind of like a powerful broadcasting station, and that's about it. And so I was like, this is just really odd. So I turned it off and then put it back in the closet. But I was just like, that's that's unusual. But I think that was the only strange thing that I had happened in that house that I had lived in for, you know, twelve years the entire time I was there. Which the couple that the couple that I bought the house from, they were the original owners of the house. And there's potential that the guy the husband actually died in the house, but I don't really know that for sure. But it's kind of funny because the whole time I lived there and never felt me like creepiness until until that happened. And I was like, Okay, what what is that? So, do you have a dog or a cat? Yes? I thought I just saw something behind your arm. Yeah, I have a white German shepherd as well. Okay, I have been sleeping. He moved to the hallway. I have a female white German shepherd. Yeah. So interesting. Now, I literally thought I just saw something. I was talking to someone a while back and there was something on camera moving in the background, and I was like, that's interesting, but I don't know whatever it ended up being. But so we I usually don't do video recording, so I don't ever get to see the people. Well, we don't ever get to talk this way. But and then when I'm talking and everything, and I start to notice things in the backgrounds, like we're talking about weird stuff, so I'm expecting something I'm popping out from behind you and freak me out. Yeah. Yeah, he's a he's an old man. He decided he doesn't want to lay in here anymore beside me, So he's gonna go lay in the hallway. Now, there was a cat that's been through here too, so she's coming and hollered a couple times. Nice. So if you hear weird noise, it does not really sound like a cat. Me out and that was her, Okay. It's always always good to know if there's anything else in the background that can make some weird noises. I don't. I don't find tooth comb everything. When it comes to these type of episodes or whatever, I just pretty much leave them be. So there was what helicopter that came through at one point two. So I get cars to drive by a lot, and sometimes you hear them, sometimes you don't. Usually if the guys at a drive by with the big, loud, jacked up trucks that have to sound ridiculously loud for unknown reasons, then they might get picked up. For the most part, though, I don't really hear a whole lot out here. Yeah, that helicopter was shaking some and stuff around here. I was like, what is that, Oh, it's a helicopter. So well, Rachel, it's been a pleasure talking to you. It's been nice talking to you as well. You want to let everyone know where they can find your book at one more time what it's called. And it is called The Shadow Demon by Nicole case So and it is available on Amazon.
